Just a Damn Glorybox

A conversation about storyboards, puppets and pornography inspired me to draw this. I don't know if I'm going to do anything more with it or at least add color. Things happen when you're around other artists all the time.

And then the lovely fellow

Here is the design for the second main character in my current project. I can't remember his name so I'm calling him Markowitz for now.

She won't let me go

So I can't really call myself an animator if I'm not animating right? So I'm going back to a project that's been haunting me for several years now. I'm re-designing the characters because I'm not really happy with the original ones. And that also means I'm doing a new storyreel as well, with brand new storyboards. I'd like to have these ready for the next salon in December but I don't want to rush it. Please enjoy the redesign of Fabian for now lovely people.
A very brief turn around.

Some really quick faces.

Hey guys. I finished these posters for Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility a while a ago but I wasn't able to post them until now. I really enjoyed these. Let me know what you think.

More thought cards.

I've completed the set of gentle thought cards. please enjoy. Again thanks to Type Depot for the Matilde font and frames.

Perhaps it will become a series, perhaps not but this is a sentiment that I strongly felt needed to be expressed Special thanks to Type Depot for the lovely frames and font.

More goodies!

I planned to release these over the weekend but I wanted to get started on a new set of brushes already. So here you go, free brushes to use however you like.

Goodies por vous!

Here are some free brushes I made from traditional Japanese patterns. This seamless brush pack should work for cs4 +. The source I used for the brushes is at Japonizer. You can go there and make your own if you're so inclined. Feel free to use these brushes on whatever you feel like; be it personal or commercial I don't care.

Off with your head!

So I really liked the look of the queen of hearts in my Alice in Wonderland poster so I did another drawing of her. I did a sketch and forgot about it. I came back to it last night and once I got into it I couldn't be stopped. Enjoy!

Addams family!

More art for you lovely folks. Please enjoy! There are two versions this time.

Oh yeah more work

Ok newish poster. I've been done with this one since August but I just haven't gotten around to posting. I had to do revisions on a previous poster so I didn't have time.

My homegirls Roxanne Dangerfist and Carmelita Sugartits. I think Carmelita needs her red jacket. Not to cover up or anything just to complete the ensemble. And as much as I love bright colors I think I like Roxanne better.

More work!

Here's some Merry Wives of Windsor for you guys. I just finished an Alice in Wonderland poster but I dunno if they'll like it. I'll post it when I find out either way.

Introducing the daughters of Ms. No Good: Roxanne Dangerfist and Carmelita Sugartits

Guess which one is which.

I like these broads. I'm going to draw them again in the same style as the "Dalur's Dottir"  series

Twelfth Night poster finished

So I did finish that poster for Twelfth Night. I also finished a poster for The Merry wives of Windsor but I'm waiting to hear if they like it before I post it. So only one poster for you guys today!
They were concerned that The text might not be visible so I provided them with and alternate title version. Yeah I fixed the typo on Shakespeare's name too.

Twelfth night mishap

So I'm working on a poster for Shakespeare's play Twelfth Night. I did a digital sketch of what I was thinking and it's totally not going to work. I liked the drawing so I'll show it to you anyway.

Finished Commission

I was asked to make a theater poster. I had a list of shows to choose from. I picked the Wiz. I picked it mostly because of nostalgia but also because I thought I could have a lot of fun with it and the subject worked well with my design aesthetic. Here it is.

Zadurp! Fanart!

Storm is my hero. I want to be just like her when I grow up so I'm doing some fanart. It's still in the sketch phases right now, so please excuse the ugly gray background.

A girl I saw last week when it was cold and people I saw on the street today.

Monday, May 16, 2011

I'm starting a new project with a frequent collaborator and friend Fred. Its kinda hush hush now because it'll be hilarious when it's done and we don't want to ruin the joke.

I'm on twitter now! Follow me!

More props today. this time it's pipes. The corncob pipe was a bit of a challenge but I'm really happy with the way it came out. The apple reminds me of a rosebud which is nice delicate touch to something thats usually seen as masculine.
Oh for the corncob, and kiseru I used some cool textures by kuschelirmel-stock over at deviant art. Thanks!

So I think I'm developing a thing for props because I expanded on the bracelet I did and drew some ladies jewelry. Enjoy!

Pew! pew! Pew!

I really liked that tree I drew for the fellowship so I made some more.

Whats this really all about then?

So I figured I should probably offer an explanation about the title of my blog. No I'm not violent nor do I want anyone reading this to die screaming in any shape, form or fashion.
But I do want everyone to watch a show called Red Dwarf That's not the full episode and you won't hear the famous quote but you'll get the idea. basically when they get to the low ship they find a video with said title.

Upon researching video links I realized that I messed the quote up. Its actually die screaming with sharp things in your head. But I think eye is funnier so I'm keeping it.

Oh and theres a Facebook fan page about this. check it out.

Here's some finished art and a sketch I submitted for the fellowship

reworked background

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

All that preparation for the damned fellowship and i forgot to submit a link to this blog or my website! Argh! oh well i can't do a damn thing about it now.

Truly the road to success is fraught with peril...and forgetfulness.

I think I might have to expand this blog to exercise and illustration because I've decided to get stronger. Anyway here's some sketches. The first is my UPA version of Varla from Faster Pussycat Kill Kill!
The second is a tidy bachelor. He's squeamish and lonely, but is confident with the ladies.

And the third is a newly divorced lady in her thirties living alone for the first time in her life.

I'm busy. Also this chick at the lab is not being very helpful.
As always sketches go here and finished art will be at my website

Busy, busy, busy

Well I'm reorganizing my portfolio. Which basically means i'm weeding out crap and polishing the true gems. Why the reorganization? Well I'm applying for a number of internships including one at nickelodeon and two at pixar and I'm applying for a fellowship as well so I'm really focused on that.

After completing the Kirin picture I realized I wanted to do more. I'm still sketching it out right now in between pruning and printing so stay tuned! It's going to be super sweet.

I had a dream my ex got turned into a bag of weed go fig.

Friday, March 18, 2011

First post guys. Because this is the inaugural post I have a sketch for you! I'm sort of continuing the theme of Japanese spirits that I started with Tamamoe no mae. This is my interpretation of Kirin. The fully colored image will be at my website very soon. Enjoy!
